Why Do Cats Hate To Bathe?
No 1. Feel Uncomfortable When Forced To Bathe
Cats feel uncomfortable when they can't move as they please. So most cats don’t like being holded tightly during bath time.
They would become sensitive, attack their owners, or get out of the situation. Or they would meow as they get frustrated.
No 2. Weird Smell
Cats have an amazing sense of smell. They can smell the chemicals in the water.
This is also why some cats avoid drinking tap water. Your cat may hate bathing because of the chemical smell.
No 3. Feel Weighed Down And Cold
When cats get wet, they can get stressed out because they feel weighed down and can’t move well.
Indoor cats aren’t used to being cold. They may wanna avoid situations where bathing can cause their body temperature to drop.
#2 How To Bathe Your Cat That Hates Water
Cats groom themselves. So they don't need to bathe unlike dogs. But bathing may be necessary depending on your cat's condition. For example, older cats may have trouble grooming. Obese cats may not lick themselves well. Or some cats may have matted furs.
No 1. What To Prepare
Before bathing your cat, prepare a daily pet brush, cat shampoo, and absorbent towel. First, brush her before getting her wet to prevent tangling her fur.
No 2. Cat Bathing Tips
First, make sure the bathroom is warm enough. This is because when your cat gets wet, her body temperature drops.
Cats have very sensitive skin. Mix the shampoo with the lukewarm water and rinse your cat quickly and gently. Be careful not to get water into her eyes, nose or ears.
Dry her wet hair with the towel after bathing. Keep your house warmer than usual until she is completely dry.
