Cat Personality - Genetic Factors
No 1. Father Cat’s Personality
Research has shown that kitten personality is inherited genetically from its father. For example, a cat with a friendly father cat is also said to have a friendly personality.
But, the influence is evident until three months old. Over time, the influence may gradually disappear.
No 2. Fur Color
Although not yet scientifically approved, there is also an opinion that a cat's personality is related to its fur color.
For instance, yellow striped cats are known to be social and active.
Calico cats are said to be independent.
White cats could be alert and timid.
Cat Personality - Environmental Factors
No 1. Mom Cat’s Care
Kittens who have a strong bond with their mom cat during childhood can learn cat traits quickly.
If they are seperated from mom cat too early, they may develop behavioral problems later.
Kittens under 14 weeks old need their mom’s care. So, don’t adopt such a young kitten.
No 2. Socialization Period
The socialization period is so important because kittens can develop their personalities with their bros and sis. They imitate each other's behavior and learn to control biting powers etc.
If they don't get through this period, they would have no control over their biting and can hurt their owners when biting.
No 3. Neutering
Neutering your cat can affect her personality because of her hormone changes.
Female cats can change to a tough temperament. Male cats can become gentle and mild, and less aggressive.
No 4. Human Interaction
Cats who interact with people often during the socialization period between 2 to 7 weeks old can become social. Also, they easily accept external stimuli.
So, it’s likely that they don’t get stressed or show strong aggression easily.
